Did you know that millions of children in the European Union are overweight due to the lack of physical exercise and unhealthy eating habits? Childhood obesity is one of the most severe public health challenges of the 21st century as the number on obese children has been increasing at an alarming rate.

Overweight and obese children are likely to stay obese into adulthood and more likely to develop diseases like cardiovascular disease or diabetes.

The Fit For Kids Program was developed in Denmark more than a decade ago to combat childhood obesity and increase the overall health of the family. It offers a free lifestyle program and consists of five pillars:

  • Training for children and parents;
  • Nutritional guidance at home;
  • Parental coaching;
  • Social events;
  • Motivational program.

Years ago, it was successfully launched by L’Orma in both Turin and Milan with the help of To – Centro Servizi Volontariato, and we are now thrilled to see the project expand to other countries. This Erasmus+ Big Collaborative Partnership builds on the previous project and it is a continuation and further development of the FitForKids EU Project.

The kick-off meeting of this Project was held in February, 2020 in Milan hosted by L’Orma where we had the pleasure to discuss the project and planned activities with our partner organizations:

  • FitForKids (Denmark);
  • Aventura Marão Clube (Portugal);
  • IAAD – İstanbul Avrupa Araştırmaları Derneği (Turkey);
  • IKOS – Istanbul Culture and Sport Association (Turkey).

The main goal of this Project is to increase the number of potential partners who are aware of the FitforKids partnering possibility, therefore reach more people whose life can be transformed thanks to this scientifically approved Project. We are delighted to welcome on board and share our experience with two Turkish organizations that are interested in implementing the Project.

We will continue working tirelessly to help and support children and their families to live a healthy lifestyle.
