Let’s play a game!

Let’s play a game!

We are in the second article.
Here we will try to answer the question we left ourselves with: WHAT IS NON-FORMAL EDUCATION?

Have you tried to identify the characteristics of the three models of education?
Here are the main characteristics of the three types of education: let’s see what your knowledge degree of the world of education is!

We define “TEACHER” as that who teaches (adults, young people, children) and “LEARNER” as the one who learns (children, young adults, adults).

FORMAL EDUCATION
It is directive. The teacher directs the learner along the learning path.
The relationship teacher/learner is based on the principle of input, that is on the passage of knowledge.
The learner is stimulated to act for an external stimulus.
The activities are structured, and the teaching comes in a pre-stablished way and same for all.
The learning occurs in a repetitive way.
It is rigid. There is only one way to learn. That of what the teacher knows.
It tends to label a behavior and to confuse the behavior with the identity.
It is learned by listening to what the teacher explains.

NON-FORMAL EDUCATION
The teacher guides the learner in the discovery of their own potential. The learner learns by using their resources.
The activities are structured but flexible and adapt to the different returns of the learner.
It is based on the principle of skills.
Searches for ways to make learning a choice for the learner.
It is learned by doing, playing, creating and experimenting.

INFORMAL EDUCATION
It can happen at any time in life and in any place.
It is often unaware.
It is learned by imitation or by discussion.
It is not structured.
Anyone can be a teacher or a learner… even a child can teach to an adult.

Non-Formal Education is therefore a teaching model based on learning by doing and focused on skills development!
The educational models mentioned above have been identified and codified in the school world.
The challenge of L’Orma is to translate them into models for education in the parenting world and provide you with useful instrument to better develop the relationship with your child.

Our mental patterns are often “patterned” to what we know about the world, and often we struggle to get out of these patterns. But we are certain that learning is something that is inherent in the human being and that should never stop being trained.
Parents, unfortunately, you are not born… you become, and with a few more tools you become an excellent parent.
Not only that, having the right tools allows you to optimize time and therefore have more time to feed your being a woman or man.

LET’S PLAY A GAME!

Get yourself some post it, we will use them often (online with 3 euros you have 400 magic colored sheets), and a blank sheet on which you can attach them (a part of the wall of your house is fine too).
Now try to write at least one example of an educational action you have put in place for each model.
Do it with different colors, it will help you to visualize the differences better.
Here is an example:

In the next article you will discover the reason why we are doing this game… maybe it is not a very simple task but remember that from mistakes you learn… so go for it!
